Definitive diagnosis of sleep apnea depends upon the results of a battery of tests, called polysomnography (sleep study), which are run in a sleep lab.
A diagnosis of sleep apnea is made when polysomnography indicates more than five apneic episodes, of 10 seconds or longer duration per hour of sleep, plus an irregular heartbeat, frequent arousal during sleep, or dips in arterial oxygen saturation.
Our dental office also offers The MediByte® Kit by Braebon, a "take home sleeping test" that you can run in the comfort of your own home. Results are then sent from the machine to a medical doctor for diagnosis.
To learn more about the benefits of a take home sleeping test or doing a sleep test at the clinic, book an appointment at our Bloor Dental Health Centre, located on Bloor St. West, today.
